On May 29, 2018 the LRI MS Connection project partners - Estonia and Austria held a joint telephone conference meeting together with Mr. Gabriel Sima, the representative of the DG JUST, European Commission.

The project partners reflected with positive tones on the LRI Expert Group Meeting held in Brussels on 23 May 2018, where the Commission had presented its plans developing the payment, invoicing and tax calculation modules for the LRI service, including currency conversion tools. The standardised solution, which would be able to serve also other European level services, besides the LRI, promise the best option for achieving also the end goals of the LRI MS Connection project.

The main topic of the discussion was centred on finding a way forward with connecting the national "Professional authentication systems" (PAS) for court professionals to the LRI platform at the e-Justice Portal. The direction envisaged was that the connection from national portals to the LRI platform should be CEF eID and eIDAS compliant - in order to have both a strong legal base (e-IDAS regulation) and a strong technical base (CEF eID architecture and eIDAS technical specifications).

Furthermore, Austria expressed the wish to extend the mandatory and optional attributes of eIDAS by additional authorisation attributes: e.g. user role, the identifiers of the user's professional institution (e.g. Court-ID). In addition, yet another set of attributes might be needed for accounting and auditing purposes. These additions are possible within the SAML standard.

The partners and the representative of EC DG JUST agreed on gathering these and other similar suggestions into one wish list during the month of June. The proposals could be then further discussed with DG Connect and DG Digit, which are responsible for eID and its technical implementation.

The meeting ended in a positive and atmosphere, where the participants were pleased with the detail level of discussion and the collaborative mood of cooperation between the LRI MS Connection project partners and the European Commission's respective teams.
