In April the partners of the project LRI MS Connection focused on fully getting acquainted with the LRI documents provided by the European Commission, in order to kick-start the core project activities. One of the main goals of the LRI MS Connection project is to establish a reliable authorisation mechanism for the professional users of the land register interconnection service at the e-Justice portal. Therefore the partners focused their attention on deeply understanding the technical aspects of the user authorisation and authentication matters, as described in the respective LRI documentation.

While reviewing the current versions of the LRI documents, the project partners become aware that further clarifications will be necessary, in order to develop a unified understanding of the technical set-up and expectations on the possible mechanisms for authentication and authorisation of professional users. Both, Austria and Estonia, initiated mapping of their existing national mechanisms and available services for user authentication and for identifying a person's professional user role in online environments.

In order to make the collaboration between the partners more efficient, it was decided to set up a common cloud-based collaboration space provided by the Austrian Ministry of Constitutional Affairs, Reforms, Deregulation and Justice. The collaboration space enables both partners to upload, commonly edit and download project files over the web. A common forum was also opened for a speedy discussion of the project issues. Using such a collaboration space the partners envision that it will be much easier to keep track of common project documents and document versions, without exchanging bulky e-mail messages between each other. The collaboration tool will also facilitate keeping track of project content and sharing of templates for financial and activity reports.

Also, preparations were undertaken in order to launch the project web-site. The Estonian partner RIK became the project's web-site host, providing a Drupal publishing environment for the project site. Both partners agreed on the site domain name, which was to be lri-ms.eu, standing for the land register interconnection of the member states of the EU. The initial web-site content was being prepared over the month of April with the goal of launching the site in May 2018.

In April the project partners also planned for the necessary tasks for the month of May. Partners will go on to identify the various types of professional users (like court professionals, notaries, state officials) who need to be taken into account as the future users of the planned LRI service. Partners will also map their existing national mechanisms and available services for user authentication and for identifying a person's professional user role in online environments. These issues will be discussed in more detail at the joint workshop, which will take place in Vienna, on 8 May 2018.
